Have you noticed how America’s attention span is shrinking?  Just about everyone complains about not being able to stay focused.  We channel-surf while watching television, station-surf while listening to our car radios, web-surf while on the Internet.  We TiVo and tape-record television shows to view in bits and pieces later.  We watch movies at home on DVD, where we can pause or skip whenever we want.  We get our news in tiny sound bites.  It’s like our entire country is afflicted with ADHD!
           
So the good old U.S. of Who? seems like an idea whose time has come – the perfect new medium for the 21st Century.  Just read the essays that interest you – in any sequence you choose – and gloss over the others.  Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase, “It’s a real page-turner.”   America’s newest pastime – essay-surfing.
