He’s been asking himself that for 55 years, and he’s still not sure. But here’s one thing he knows: he loves to write. To paraphrase F. Scott Fitzgerald, Roy writes for two reasons: (a) he has something to say and (b) he has to say something (or vice versa).
For information on Roy Klein, visit the websites for his law practice (Loorak.com) and his arbitrator/mediator practice (Limacs.org). That’s because Roy declined to give us any specific information about his life, claiming it was too ordinary and mundane to befit a quirky writer. He suggested that anyone who is really interested in him simply can file a Freedom of Information Act request with the FBI. He did, however, authorize us to publish the following summary of one of his several fantasy lives:
Roy Klein lives with his imaginary dogs – Kafka (a rescued Dalmatian who Klein believes is the reincarnation of the famed Czech writer); Jessie (a rescued Greyhound who Klein believes is the reincarnation of the legendary sprinter, Jesse Owens); and Winnie (a rescued old English sheepdog mix who Roy thinks is cute). He splits time among his make-believe beach house on Long Island’s east end, his funky make-believe loft in Greenwich Village and his make-believe working vineyard in Napa Valley. When he’s not writing, Roy enjoys sleeping, watching sports on T.V. and pitching poorly in a competitive softball league. He also continues to practice law, which he vows to keep doing “until I get it right.”
